NHS2030: The Five-Year Plan

Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago has released NHS2030: The Five-Year Strategic Plan (FY2026–FY2030), a comprehensive, data-informed strategy designed to confront the affordable housing crisis, expand equitable homeownership, strengthen neighborhood stability, and build generational wealth across Chicago and surrounding suburban communities.

At a time when rising housing costs, investor activity, racial wealth disparities, and declining affordability continue to reshape the region, NHS2030 establishes a coordinated blueprint that aligns outreach, education, lending, development, and long-term homeowner support into a unified housing ecosystem rooted in community impact and measurable outcomes.

The plan outlines NHS Chicago’s strategic priorities over the next five years, including expanding access to sustainable homeownership opportunities, preserving affordability in historically underserved communities, strengthening pathways to financial capability, supporting neighborhood revitalization efforts, and advancing innovative partnerships across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
